Market insights | Agri-Foods

Project Background

A European based meat processing industry association employed us to obtain insights to inform their China business strategy. Their goals included us formulating a thorough understanding about China’s pork processing and poultry processing industries. The project covered an overall understanding about both industries, including current output, development trends, related regulations, top players in the China market, as well as the market outlook.

 
Research Methodology

Our team started with the literature research covering all relevant local Chinese databases, to collect related statistics from government and knowledge bodies. The team also conducted extensive interviews with leading meat processing companies, industry associations, upstream and downstream players in order to collect first-hand insights (primary source) from the market. 

 
Outcomes

The team then analysed and validated all the information and data, and developed an overall market assessment report, together with the strategic recommendations to the client.

Buy-side research | Private Equity Fund

Project Background

A private equity fund based was assessing optimizing options for performance improvement of the distributorship and assess three potential new commercial partners of one of its portfolio’s retail group activities in Southern  Europe (Spain, Italy)

 

Research Methodology

PrimeIntel Partners conducted enhanced reputational due diligence on the three potential new distributors to bring clear understanding of the management teams, their business network the situation at the companies s and 360 degrees assessment of the willingness to promote & develop the clients brands on the southern Europe markets including business reputation,  market positioning, operations performance and business vision.

 

Outcomes

Reputational risks were assessed and the results supported the client's decision to reinforce its business relationship with one of the three commercial partners.

Illicit online sales |
Pharmaceutical Company

Project Background

A Pharmaceutical company based in Central Europe identified growing risks related to illicit trade of one of its key products on internet marketplaces and specifically setup online pharmacies.

 

Research Methodology

PrimeIntel was chosen to identify and monitor online activities related to the drugs available online. Our Pharma Team provided a detailed mapping of the different players involved including technical support service providers, manufacturing sites, logistics and sales routes.

 

Outcomes

Based on the detailed intelligence gathered, the client requested our Investigations team do perform a forensic investigation, in  cooperation with local law enforcement agencies, to limit activities of illegal online pharmacies based in various EU states. The detailed report included relevant and sufficient evidence to enable legal action to be taken against the unlawful actors. The Client was able to
reduce the exposure of illicit trade of their products as a result of our help.

Competitor analysis | Chemical Manufacturer

Project Background

A leading chemical manufacturer asked PrimeIntel Partners to clarify decision-making process at competitor to prepare for joint bidding on a public-private partnership related to transportation infrastructure in a Central European country.

 

Research Methodology

PrimeIntel Partners team identified key decision makers and provided detail profiles at HQ and at country level, interactions and internal processes related to decision at the target company. In addition, insights were gathered on relationship between the competitor and  local administration and potential risks related to policy making.

 

Outcomes

The Client obtained a clear view on the organization related to the public private partnership and the key individuals involved in the project at the local level, their specific roles and responsibilities and their network in the country. The PrimeIntel Partners team also brought insights into the financial procurement situation, involved institutions and development status and plans.

Market research | Competitor operations

Project Background

We supported a Japanese distributor in their strategy assessment of a Canadian based company engaged in the processing, distribution and export of pulse, staple foods and ingredients with operations in other 120 countries and has become a leading supplier of lentils, chickpeas and peas worldwide

 

Research Methodology

Our engagement included an in-depth market intelligence and market entry of the target company focusing on

  • Manufacturing & distribution framework with a special focus on Turkey, China and Indian operations, interactions with local stakeholders, and trade facilitators

  • R&D and go to market strategy associated with meat-free pulse and texturized pulse protein

  • In-depth analysis of business partners and key contracts

  • Business partners with deep-dive research on the China operations and the local market, role of the central and local administration, regulations, the business network in place and local market dynamics.

 
Outcomes

Our work enabled the client to better understand the strategic directions chosen by the target company in North East Asian countries. We clarified the decision-making process in central, regional and local administrative bodies. We identified key stakeholders and our recommendations included the setting of joint development programs with the target entity to take advantage of growth opportunities in the Chinese market.
